Restrictions for Dental treatments during this
COVID-19 pandemic:
Dental Council of India / Indian Dental Association has
decided to restrict some dental procedures during this pandemic to contain the spread
of COVID-19 virus. Dental treatments are categorized as follows.
Emergency dental treatments
Facial or Dental injuries, due to any accident or
trauma.
Alveolar Osteitis or Dry Socket or Post extraction
complications.
Cellulitis or Ludwig’s Angina.
Pericoronitis or infection of wisdom teeth.
Fracture of Jaw due to trauma or accident.
Fracture of old restoration causing pain and swelling.
Fractured teeth causing injury to oral mucosa.
Uncontrolled bleeding from gums due to trauma or
injury.
These falls under Urgent Dental Care: Urgent dental
care focuses on the management of condition that require immediate attention to
relieve the severe pain or risk of infection and to alleviate the burden on
hospital emergency departments. These should be treated as minimally invasive
as possible. (American Dental Association)

Extensive Dental Caries
Restorations causing pain.
Suture removal
Denture adjustments
Replacing temporary restorations of endo treated teeth
causing pain.
Adjustment or snipping of orthodontic wire or
appliances.
Biopsy of abnormal tissues.
Current CDC guidelines:
No elective dental procedures.
In case of treating emergency cases, ask screening
questions.
If patient fall into risk categories for possible
infection of COVID-19, consider referral to a medical center.
Patients cannot be treated here at DentArk are,
Ø Patients
with severe COPD or Chronic Broncheal Asthma.
Ø Patients
with Chronic Heart Diseases (eg. Angioplasty/CABG)
Ø Patients
with COVID like symptoms (Fever, Sore throat, Cough, Breathing trouble)
Ø Patient
with history of travel from abroad or other states since January 2020.
Ø Patients
with diagnosed COVID-19
Ø Pediatric
or Geriatric patients. (Kids below 15years of age. Older patients more than
80years of age)
Ø Patients
under steroids or Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy.
Ø Pregnant
patients

Root Canal Treatments, unless emergency.
Ø Elective
Serial Extractions for Prosthetic Rehab.
Ø Elective
crown and bridge fabrications.
Ø Permanent
Esthetic Restorations unless emergency.
Ø Surgical
Extraction of broken teeth.
Ø Surgical
extraction of wisdom teeth, unless emergency.
Ø Elective
Oral prophylaxis
